Stockholm

In September, we were in Stockholm, Sweden for a week and loved every minute of it.

This was our first real getaway since we moved to Germany, which made it all the more exciting. Having been a huge fan of Scandinavian design, I couldn’t wait to see and experience the city for myself.

Everywhere we turned, it was breathtaking. Even the weather was amazing during the duration of our stay. I think September is the perfect month to visit – not too hot, not too cold, and the sun is long enough.

The hotel

We were beyond happy with the hotel we booked, HTC Kungsgatan. Who could say no to a design hotel on a budget? The chic interior, lovely service and great food – highly recommended.

The food

I mean, everything else was just so perfect. We would’ve totally understood even if the food had sucked. But of course the food had to be amazing as well. We particularly enjoyed the fish at Nystekt-Stroemming and the American pancakes at Ikon Kafe.

Moderna Museet

In almost every city, we visit a modern museum. This time in Stockholm, we went to Moderna Museet. It had a nice selection of work and special exhibits.

Nordiska Kompaniet

I LOVE a good department store. This one was definitely one of my favs so far. We went to a cafe on the upper level, Botanique, to get some coffee and grab a bite to eat and the food was so fresh and delicious.

Rosendals Trädgård

This gem of a place came as a recommendation from a coworker, and honestly, it was so lovely. A garden, shop, bakery, cafe and restaurant in one, it felt good to be surrounded by nature and enjoy organic food and coffee. Oh, and the shop had incredible items, everything from food to handmade ceramics.

iris hantverk

There were many, many stores in Sweden that I got addicted to visiting during my short stay, and iris hantverk was one of them. Lovely items that I want to smother my home with.

Designtorget

Did I mention Sweden had awesome shops for home decor? Equipped with brands like Design House Stockholm and Muuto, this place is a dream come true for all home decor geeks.

So that’s it! That pretty much sums up our trip to Stockholm. The city is absolutely amazing, and is a must-go if you haven’t been already. This definitely won’t be my last visit.
